Description The hull plate often takes the brunt of any collision with rocks/bottom and the force can be enough to crack it. If your hull is filling with water and you can’t work out where from, chances are the hull plate may be cracked. Can’t hurt to check. Depending on where you sail, you may like to keep a spare one handy. White plate with hole for dagger. This part should be replaced immediately if it should get broken as it acts like a bumper to protect the hull if the boat is grounded with the daggerboard down. If it is not replaced then the next time the boat is grounded the hull could be damaged. It is very easy to replace and only needs the screws taking out and a new one screwing in place.
