SLIDE STOP 26 RECESSED KMR The slide stop is designed to be easy to reach and easy to operate during shooting and magazine changes. Used to secure the slide in the rear position, usually after the magazine has been emptied. This feature is included in most modern self-loading pistols. Slide lock in rear position – when the magazine is empty, the slide catch automatically locks the slide in the rear position, signaling the shooter that the magazine needs to be replaced. Allowing new ammunition to be loaded – once a new magazine is loaded, the shooter will usually depress the bolt catch, allowing the bolt to move forward to load the first round into the chamber. Safety feature – The slide stop can also be a safety feature that prevents accidental discharge until the magazine is properly inserted and the weapon is ready for use.
